Jive Records CEO Barry Weiss on Spice 1's Success
West coast gangsta rap veteran Robert L. Green, Jr., better known by his stage name Spice 1 quickly established himself in the early ‘90s with hits like “187 Proof ” and “Welcome to the Ghetto” and his self-titled debut album which sold over 500,000 copies.
With the help of Too Short, Spice 1 was quickly signed to Jive Records only two years out of high school.
